This week has tested my consistency game so much that I haven’t managed to do the daily recaps, as I did in last week’s blog. A summary of how the week has been, will do.
I changed my January read, this week. I enjoyed that book’s first chapters and then lost the excitement somewhere in between. Before I decided to put the book down and start another one, I had a whole debate going on with myself. I didn’t want to leave the book half-way, because I didn’t want the ‘incomplete culture’ to follow me into 2022. The ‘incomplete culture’ is a term I have coined to describe the habit of leaving things half-way done; not following them up to completion. On the other hand, I knew I would very easily break my reading chain if I didn’t put that book down, because I no longer found it interesting. Among the habits that I want to cultivate this year, is reading and so breaking the reading chain in the first month of the year is really not it.
My new read is Joan Thatiah’s ‘I’m too pretty to be broke’. I’m several chapters into the book and thoroughly enjoying it. The book addresses lies that we tell ourselves as women and those imposed on us by the society. I haven’t heard of some of the lies before, but the others are definitely very common. She has worked on explaining the origin of some of those lies and how they’ve been thrown out of proportion, in today’s world. I highly recommend this book.
I’m having a kawriter’s block because I’m still getting into the groove of weekly uploads.
I’ve promised myself to upload even a one-statement blog, when my creative juices aren’t flowing. This is because Consistency is my word of the year. What’s yours?
The ‘word of the year’ vibe is really in the air, currently. Whatever your word is, pick a daily habit that will have you looking back on December 31st, and attesting that you really have lived that word!
