By now you’ve probably already said to yourself “ok so today she wants to tell us about being a leader 🤔.” Yaas boo 🤣. So read on.
For the longest time I was one person that never bothered to understand people. If you ever crossed my path, me and you would be a done deal. I wasn’t about to mind my studies and at the same time be out here trying to understand people and their perception.
However being a leader has taught me that you need to understand people because that’s the only way you get to work with them smoothly. To add to it, when you teach yourself to understand others, you’ll relate so well with others. Because don’t we all love to stay around people who understand us???
Most of the treats I’ve had in this my short life have been leadership incentives. In high school we had extra slices of bread on Thursday evenings, seminars and the cream of it all was a trip we had to Lake Bogoria Spa for a weekend;A WHOLE WEEKEND MY GUYS!!!
I bet you know that leadership also adds a star to one’s C.V…yeah???
I cannot fail to mention the stresses this leadership has given me. This minute you are being questioned why your club is not doing as is expected of it, the next you are being quarrelled as to why your subjects were late for a meeting bla bla bla. Yaani argument after argument. This far I’ve come without having a breakdown ni God manze.
Leadership in Rotaract (Rotaract has developed 80% of the leader in me in less than an year) has taught me to be a go-getter. You want it??? Go get it sis!!! There are only 2 possible outcomes and none of them is death. The first outcome will be that you’ll get what you are looking for which is definitely a plus for you. The second is you won’t get it but you’ll have learnt a thing or two.
