Fun fact about me:

I’m not about living abroad for any reason. I’m only ready to go abroad when touring the world;just then. Anyway God has the final say, acha nichill nione amenipangia nini.Neither am I planning to settle in Nairobi. However, I won’t deny this “cirry in the sun” is a whole MOOD.

I’ve stayed in Nairobi for close to 2 years now yet the tall buildings still amaze me;the corporate buildings in Westlands and Upper hill especially. Kwanza there’s the Old Mutual building in Upperhill that lights up at night. You’ll more often than not find me staring at the building for like half an hour. It is safe to announce that simply looking at the lighting is therapeutic for me.

I find Nairobi to be an amazing city because of the various chill spots there are. Kina Uhuru Park, Central Park, Jeevanjee Gardens, Uhuru gardens,Oloolua Nature Trail, Karura Forest na KICC rooftop are top on my list of favorite chill spots. Yees yees I know you are surprised but oh well 😂 THAAAZZZ ME!!! Halafu si you know Nairobi is the only city with a national park within it??? So beautiful✨.

I am grateful to God for very many reasons. One of them is the short distance between my school and hostel hence I can comfortably walk because I cannot deal with traffic chaos. IT IS TOO MUCH!!!

If you haven’t found yourself caught up in Nairobi traffic then you really don’t know what patience is-imagine you don’t. There’s this day we were going to town with a couple of friends. Ideally, the journey from Madaraka to town should take like twenty minutes tops. Hee maguys this day we were stuck in traffic for almost 90 minutes 😭. That day my patience was really tested because I was so close to alighting and walking; that would not have taken me an hour plus…would it???

Life is harsh and so there are miserable people everywhere. 80% of the times I’ve come across miserable people is while in Nairobi. How do you explain someone from nowhere stepping on your thoroughly brushed ngomas in the name of you being on their path yet there’s so much space they can comfortably walk through🙄.

Kwanza I remember this guy that almost slapped me😂. So I’m getting ready to cross the road, at some point where matatus are allowed to pick passengers from. Then a matatu pulls up. I bet y’all know these guys that help the conductor fill his mat and then they are paid a few coins…yeah??? So this guy was one of them. Remember I’m not interested in boarding the matatu; I just want to CROSS THE ROAD. Acha huyu mzee aanze kunivuta…ati “madam panda hii”. I really get pissed off when anyone grabs my arm; actually I HATE being touched. However I calmly told him “mimi siendi leo” . The eyes he gave me 👀, showed anger. BUT EXCUSE ME SIR, I’M I OBLIGATED TO BOARD YOUR VEHICLE 🌚. I just walked away.

You need to be woke in Nairobi. Yaani here you can’t trust anyone. You probably I’ve heard that “Nairobi is one big bedroom🤣”. That’s just one among thousand reasons you only have yourself to trust in this city. Once in church, my pastor said that “Nairobi is a jungle of the concrete”.

The theft especially is so much that you won’t find me standing and giving someone I don’t know directions. I actually feel like I’ve left people genuinely in need of my help stranded but having been a theft victim, I’m not about to go around helping people. This is so sad but what do I do??? There is this tweet that 100% summarises this paragraph 👇🏿

Tuuurrruuuu😂

All in all Nairobi is such a hyped up and amazing city. In another world, I’d choose it as my city of residence in my campus years.
